TEXAS CHUCK WAGON is an authentic representation of the chuck wagon that was designed and built by Charles Goodnight in 1865. Chuck Wagons were used on trail drives as a kitchen to prepare food and feed the cowboys, carry supplies, bedrolls and served as Headquarters. Cowboys moved the herds of Texas longhorn cattle up the Chisholm Trail to railheads in Kansas for transport by trains to the eastern U.S. Now most Chuck Wagons are used for competition cooking, catering, parties, cattle round ups and parades. Prices starting at $8,495.00 >> View Layout in Store Wooden Wagon and Carriage Wheels, New and Repaired Our wooden hub wheels are replicas of those built by wheelwrights over a hundred years ago, when the primary means of transportation was wagon, carriage, or stagecoach.
Our white oak hubs are turned to match your wagon. Four steel bands are tightly fitted to your hub. We use hickory spokes and bent felloes on our wheels and the steel tire is hot set for a sturdy long lasting wheel. This wheel can be used to replace and match an existing wheel or to outfit a wagon with new wheels. >> View Layout in Store Stage Coaches
Mud Wagon Coaches and Mountain WagonsWhile the Wells Fargo and Concord type Stagecoach took “star” billing the Mud Wagon or Mountain Wagon type coach represented 95% of the total Stages Coaches built in the US.The Mud wagon was much lighter, cost less and could go just about anyplace in the United States, be it desert, mountain, or mud. It was built in several sizes and a large coach could hold up to 18 passengers or more, a driver and “shotgun” rider. Because it was lighter, horses were able to pull it up mountains and across the desert on unimproved roads. A full size Concord type coach was much heavier, larger, expensive and needed a 6-up hitch of horses to pull.
The mud wagon represented here, was built from plans of a coach that was used on the San Diego, CA to Yuma, AZ run, a route that lasted for some 35 years. Coaches used for transporting passengers were not of the luxury class by any means. They were austere compared to some private or resort coaches. This mud coach was furnished with seats made using 2” of horsehair and the seat backs had 1” of horsehair. Every thing else was bare wood. To protect the passenger on the inside of the coach, canvas curtains were rolled down to provide protection from rain, snow, cold weather, and blowing sand. Two or four horses could pull the smaller or private coaches. Mules, because of their endurance, pulled many coaches. In South Texas as well as other parts of the U.S. there were “Jack-ass” stage lines that were pulled exclusively by mules. >> Prices starting at $24,995 For a quality Stage Coach at an affordable price call Wayne to discuss any question or options that you may want.Restoration Horse drawn vehicles are restored to their original condition with quality workmanship and attention to detail.
